From the last few years, the ratio of people infected with STD is continuously increasing. The reason is that people do not want to talk much about Chlamydia, Syphilis and gonorrhea as they consider them as minor diseases. Most of the US citizens suffer from these diseases at least once in their lifetimes.
According to a study conducted by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 2 million people were suffering from Syphillis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia in 2016. It is not possible to say what the exact reason behind this ratio is, but here are some ideas given by health experts that can be the reason why Syphilis, Gonorrhea, and Chlamydia continue to rise in the US:
Condomless Sex
Well, you already know that sex without using a condom is unsafe and you can be vulnerable to STI. But do you know that when there is condomless sex between two men, it is riskier? The men who have sex with men are more vulnerable to Syphilis as compared to men who have sex with women.
Mother To The Child
According to the CDC report, more women are infected with Syphilis these days, and when they get pregnant, they pass this disease to their babies through the bloodstream. So, it is recommended to get diagnosed and treated before planning motherhood.
Increasingly Dating App
Now there are dating apps available where anyone can find a partner quickly. So with the increasing dating apps, sex is readily available, resulting in increasing STDs ratio among US citizens.
Underfunded Public Health Clinics
Due to the global financial crisis, public health clinics are underfunded where people belonging to low-income families can go for free health checkups and treatment. For this reason, many people do not get tested and remain unaware that they are infected with an STI.
